| SN 1997eg is a Type IIn ("narrow-line") supernova; its spectral line profiles indicate an intense interaction between the SN ejecta and surrounding dense circumstellar material. We use multi-epoch Keck spectropolarimetry to probe the configuration of this CSM. The complex Balmer lines produce intriguing "loops" in the Stokes Q-U plane reminiscent of those arising from the rotating disks around Be stars and AGN central sources. SN 1997eg also appears to be quite different polarimetrically from the Type IIn SN 1998S, which suggests that spectropolarimetry may provide a way to investigate the relationships between the diverse members of this heterogeneous subclass. |
