Figure 1. Percent polarization versus wavelength for our combined WIYN observations of MWC 1080. The blue data (< 6000 Angstroms) are binned to a constant error of 0.05%; the red data (> 6000 Angstroms) are binned to a constant error of 0.03%. The smooth line represents a Serkowski-law fit to the polarization of the emission lines in the flux spectrum (which appear here as absorption lines). The overlap between the blue and red ends of the Serkowski fit is due to a slight mismatch in the plotting scale. |
